We cordially invite you to the 2017 Southeast Symposium of Recent Developments in Geotechnics, which will be held on 8th – 9th July 2017 at Southeast University, Nanjing, China. The symposium provides a research exchange platform and development opportunity for us, researchers at Southeast University in the field of geomechanics and geotechnical engineering, in joining hands with you, our existing and potential friends, research collaborators and industrial partners. With common research interests and passion, we will exchange our latest progress in fundamental and applied geotechnical research, explore new scientific frontiers and develop inspiring new ideas and strategic plan to tackle real world geo-engineering challenges in energy, environment and sustainable development.
This symposium will present a great opportunity to share your exciting discoveries in a liberal and supportive environment. We in particular encourage participants interested in joining us or collaborating with us. We welcome contributions from all research areas in geomechanics and geotechnical engineering. It is also part of our initiatives to raise research profile at the national and international level and to recruit internationally competent academic staff to catalyse new developments as well as to strengthen existing capacities.
We also organise themed workshops to promote focused discussions, scholarly debates and fruitful collaboration. This year’s symposium will feature the theme “offshore geotechnics”, organised by Profs. Guo-Liang Dai, Wei-Min Gong, Xia Li and Xue-Liang Zhao (Chair), with support and confirmed participation from China Three Gorges Corporation (三峡集团), Shanghai Donghai Wind Energy Co., Ltd (上海东海风力发电有限公司), Shanghai Investigation, Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. (上海勘测设计研究院有限公司), China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC 中国海洋石油总公司), and The China Communications Construction Company - Second Harbor Engineering Company (SHEC 中交第二航务工程局有限公司) among others. By bringing researchers and practitioners in one room, we will bridge the gap from fundamentals to applications.
We look forward to welcoming you in Nanjing!
